International British School Vocandus Lodz

In these days of increasing globalisation, more and more people are relocating to other countries either at the request of their companies or for their own personal advancement. This can, however, bring problems and among the biggest of these is the problem of what to do about the children’s education. The choice has often been between leaving the children behind to continue their education thereby splitting the family or uprooting the children and bringing them to a new country where they often have to study a new system in a strange language. We, at Vocandus, can provide the perfect solution to this problem by offering the opportunity to study for the internationally recognised University of Cambridge International Examination from primary level to secondary level and the IGCSE exams and on to the Advanced level and the A and AS level exams. Because this syllabus is recognised and taught all over the world, it should be easy to find another school in another country which will follow the same system there by preventing serious disruption to children’s’ education and offering continuity of learning.

Vocandus was established in 2006 primarily as a private school for Polish children following the Polish syllabus. In 2009, this was expanded by the addition of British School “vocandus”. The aim of the new section was to offer lessons in English following the British syllabus to the children of foreigners living in Łódż. Students also have the opportunity to have lessons in English, Polish, French, German and Spanish with Native Speakers. The number of pupils in a group will never exceed 10 and is often far smaller. There is also a huge range of extra-curricular activities including Art, Music lessons, golf, swimming lessons at the best swimming pool in the area, football and beach volleyball in the school grounds and a wide range of social activities such as visits to the theatre or cinema. The school has applied for membership of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) as proof of our commitment to offering education at the highest level and, as part of this process, the school has already been visited by the ECIS consultancy officer.

The school is located in a quiet suburb of Łódż and is extremely secure with continuous monitoring of all who enter and leave the building. There is a dining room where breakfast and lunch are available in superb home cooked style. The school has ten classrooms, each one named after a foreign country, a fully equipped language laboratory and a computer room kitted out with Apple computers, as is each classroom. In addition, some of the classrooms are equipped with electronic interactive boards. There is also a 52” television and a piano.

As well as academic subjects, we also strive to teach our students life sk ills such as respect for each other as well as human rights and tolerance towards all regardless of race or religious beliefs.
